SAA stands for Standards Association of Australia, now known as SAI Global. In the context of electrical products, SAA certification refers to approval that a product complies with Australian safety standards for electrical equipment.

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2002/95/EC, short for Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, was adopted in February 2003 by the European Union.

The letters "CE" are the abbreviation of French phrase "Conformité Européene" which literally means "European Conformity". The term initially used was "EC Mark" and it was officially replaced by "CE Marking" in the Directive 93/68/EEC in 1993

IP ratings, or ingress protection, were developed by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and are most heavily used in Europe and Asia. IP65 ensures protection from total dust ingress & from low pressure water jets from any direction, limited ingress protection.

The Energy Related Products (ErP) directive is an EU regulation that affects many products in both their design and in the requirement for an energy label to be included with each qualifying product.
